Data Innovation Director, The University of Edinburgh
Ritchie has performed a wide range of different roles across local government, from Town Planning, Business Planning, Programme & Project Management to IT and Digital.
Previously Programme Strategy Manager for Edinburgh’s Connected Capital Programme, part of the Urban Broadband Fund, in 2013 he was appointed as Planning, Strategy and Relationship Manager to develop the ICT and Digital Strategy for the City of Edinburgh Council – Empowering Edinburgh.
Appointed as Innovation and Futures Manager at the City of Edinburgh Council in 2016, he supported the Council and its partners in the development of the Regional City Deal. He contributed to the BEIS-sponsored Science and Innovation Audit for South East Scotland, led by the University of Edinburgh, and subsequently assisted in the development of the Data Driven Innovation Programme, now part of the Regional City Deal. He has been seconded full-time to the University since summer 2017.
A co-founder of the Edinburgh Living Lab, he is a former Board Member of Digital Leaders Scotland, a Board member of the Cities Standards Institute, and a BSI Committee Member on Smart Cities. He is also an Associate of the Association for Project Management (AAPM), a Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (MILM) and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA).
